Please join our meet up event, " A night of Shodo and Shojin".
A night of culture and tradition that will satisfy both your body and your soul !
Experience the delights of a full course Shojin meal, Japan’s oldest vegan cuisine which has hundreds year history at Buddhist temples and experience Shodo, the art of Japanese calligraphy at an exclusive, yet cozy penthouse in Shinjyuku near the beautiful Shinjyuku-gyoen.
During the night you will be guided by our Shodo master to write your own resolution word for 2019 and make it your own special art work to take home to display.
It's our tradition to have Kakizome/ First writing to make a resolution by calligraphy in the new year.
By the end of this event you will not only have a full stomach while being mindful, but also get closer to Japanese traditions and culture.

What's special about
★ You will make your own calligraphy art work based on your chosen resolution for the year.
Our Shodo master will guide you to allow you to practice your chosen kanji so you can perfect your calligraphy strokes.
After you have practiced, you will create a wall hanging on special paper (Shikishi) for you to take home.
Our Shodo master will also sign the work with her Hanko ( seal) to create a one-off, very personal piece of art for your enjoyment.
★ You will also get to try a 5 course seasonal plant-based meal, as the Buddhist monks would have eaten hundreds of years ago.
Each dish is prepared by hand without the use of any machinery, keeping true to the Buddhist traditions.
Before the meal you will also get to experience the beauty of sesame meditation, a must for every training monk within the temples.
★ We will be offering a limited edition bottle of Issho sake with the meal, which has been harvested this year from Niigata for you to enjoy.
We will also be serving Green Tea and water as well.
Please feel free to bring your own drinks if you would like to do so.
★ The venue is an exclusive penthouse in Shinjuku gyoen that is both styling and comfortable.
It's next to the Shinjyuku Gyoen park, so it might be a good idea to picnic at the park before our event.
