- **Event Description**: RSPB Shetland and Linda Gray invite you to an afternoon of conservation, conversation and contemplation to celebrate the 115th International Women’s Day (IWD). Find out about the role of women in conservation, crofting and horticulture, learn some skills and put them into practice. 

This outdoor event offers a mix of practical volunteering, self-reflection and group conversation. Throughout the afternoon, we'll consider what nature gives to us and what we give to nature in return. There will be around an hour of gardening tasks, followed by a mindfulness in nature exercise before gathering in a group for a hot drink and meditation. If you miss the introduction you may not be able to fully participate so please be at the top car park at 1330 sharp to get the most from the event. We will be finished by 1615.

What to Wear & Bring: With a mix of physical activity and stillness, please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the conditions. Expect the ground to be soggy and the air to be cold and possibly wet! If possible, please bring your own gloves, mug, knee-pads, and something to sit on (a magazine in a carrier bag offers a bit of comfort).

Booking: No booking required but please click “Going” so we have an idea of numbers. You'll be asked to sign a volunteer registration form on the day. Donations welcome.

Directions & Parking: Lea Gardens is at Tresta, ZE2 9LT.  IGNORE THE PIN ON THE GOOGLE MAP. The access track is just west of the Tresta Slipway. Park in the Lower Car Park. If you use What3Words this is the car park Mermaids.Magnetic.Sized. If full, please park safely and considerately off the A971. Car sharing is encouraged. No public transport.

Accessibility: This event is fully outdoors, with a mix of uneven ground, paths and slopes. There are various practical volunteer options e.g. tending flower beds or path-maintenance which may not suit everyone. Toilet available. This event is meant for adults but if you wish to bring bairns please contact us (see below)
