Join us to explore the crucial role these incredible pollinators play.About this EventDeveloped to further our mission by teaching people about nature and how to advocate for its conservation, the Sherwood Park Fish and Game Association (SPFGA) is continuing its Naturalist sessions throughout 2025.We will bring various naturalists from differing backgrounds to share their knowledge in native wildlife and ecosystems to connect participants with nature and increase our appreciation of Alberta's natural heritage.A naturalist is an expert in, or a student of natural history, so we can all become naturalists!Our November session is entitled "The Wonderful World of Bees".Discover the fascinating world of native bees! Join us to explore the crucial role these incredible pollinators play in our local ecosystems and agriculture. Learn about the diverse bee species in Alberta, their unique behaviors, and the habitats they rely on. We'll also discuss the challenges they face, from habitat loss to pesticide use, and provide practical tips for supporting their populations.In this presentation, we’ll explore their incredible diversity and how they differ from managed bees like honeybees. With pollinators in decline, it’s more important than ever to learn simple, effective ways to support these essential species as they address the risks that they face. Learn how you can help create a future for bees and biodiversity alike.  Minimum Attendance AgeIf a youth is attending without adult accompaniment, they must be 15 years of age or older. If the youth is accompanied by an adult however, there really isn’t a minimum age. As long as they are old enough to make it through the session's activities and do so safely, they are absolutely welcome to attend.Presenter BioIlan Domnich is the Native Bee Stewardship Specialist for the Alberta Native Bee Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of native bee communities through research and education.An entomologist by training, Ilan completed his MSc at the University of Alberta, where he focused on entomology extension in agriculture.
