For more than a decade, Nico Lang has reported on LGBTQ+ issues for publications including The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Time, Harper's Bazaar, and The Washington Post. For American Teenager, Nico spent a year traveling across the country, interviewing transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse teens and their families to document their everyday lives, challenges, resilience, and joy in their own words.

The evening will include:

Why is Uprising co-hosting this event?

At Uprising, our mission is to prevent human trafficking and exploitation through education, awareness, and community engagement. Research consistently shows that LGBTQIA+ youth experience disproportionately high rates of exploitation and victimization. While this is not a trafficking event, we believe that building understanding, encouraging meaningful conversations, and creating supportive communities are all important parts of prevention. We are honored to partner with Sheridan Proud and the Sheridan County Democratic Party to bring this opportunity to Sheridan.

Whether you're a reader, parent, educator, student, advocate, or simply someone who enjoys thoughtful conversations with accomplished authors, we hope you'll join us for an engaging evening of storytelling and discussion.
