Join artists Sally Wright and Hafifa Ahmed to connect, chat, meet new people, get creative, share skills - and food, if you like!

We’re launching a new group for anyone aged 16+ who identifies as female. Sally and Hafifa will run creative workshops, making textiles, painting, and more. As the group grows, you will decide which direction you want it to go.

No experience needed - you don’t need to feel ‘skilled’ at something to join!
You’ll also have the chance to display what you make at Now Then! Festival Sherburn on Sunday, 14 June 2026.

You can drop in, but signing up helps us plan for any needs you may have. We’re always happy to help! Let us know if you need an interpreter, help with travel costs, or anything else.

If childcare is an issue, you are welcome to bring your children. However, they’ll remain your responsibility throughout. Feel free to bring something to keep them entertained - we’ll have some toys and crafts, but can’t guarantee they’ll suit all. 


More about the project:

This project has been designed to be inclusive for women from all backgrounds, including women who may have settled status, are seeking asylum, migrant communities and women who may experience racism, health inequities and economic inequities. We’ll plan both Easter and Eid celebrations as part of the workshops, and build in celebrations for any other cultural events relevant to the group as they request.

Our hopes for this group are to:
✅Reduce isolation for all women and support cross cultural, intergenerational friendship building for women from all walks of life who may not usually get chance to meet
✅Share skills, lived experience and cultures. The workshops will (gradually) invite participants to share passions, culture, crafts and interests. Participants will decide what they make and where the sessions go…
✅Build confidence and self-esteem
