8th Annual Lobster Trap Tree Lighting - Port Mouton Wharf/Central Port Mouton Breakwater Road

In Memory of Janet Gatzke and fishers past and present

Janet loved all things coastal: seashells, beach glass, rope, boats, buoys and sand.
She fell in love with the idea of building a Lobster Trap Tree or Buoy Tree at the community wharf, a tradition in other small fishing communities.
With community support, she made this a reality for Port Mouton.
What many didn't realize was that for years before her passing, every afternoon, she would drive to the wharf to plug in the lights and every evening, she'd return to unplug them.
Her dedication to the lighting up of the tree every night was truly admirable, done for the community she loved and the lifestyle she cherished.
This tradition continues with the help of many community members.

Along with the lighting of the tree enjoy a visit from Santa served with hot chocolate and cookies.
