So after we take a breath after 3 days of BWC4 Scottish Mainline exploring, enjoy a lie-in, a leisurely breakfast and some fresh Scottish air, before heading for a late morning departure from Linlithgow or Edinburgh, for your stylish return to the North West or Midlands behind our pair of Class 37s.
We leave Linlithgow mid-morning, before skirting around the Edinburgh Surburban loop leaving our 2 x EPR Class 37s leading all the way to Leicester. Our final pick-up is Edinburgh, then its fast line with double trouble at the front, to tackle the delights of Beattock before we pause at Carlisle to say goodbye to our first passengers. Onwards through the amazing scenary of the Lune Gorge, and to storm up Shap, before we pass through Lancaster and into Preston for a short leg stretch and further opportunities for photos of our leading locos.
Our route home is as per outward on Thursday, with a set-down in the railway town of Crewe, across the rarely railtour covered North Staffs route, with a set-down at Uttoxeter, before crossing the East Midlands via the freight line to Trent Junction. Finally arriving at Leicester, we say a fond farewell to our class 37’s who return to depot for a well deserved rest. Our Class 57/3 will whisk us back to Peterborough and before you know it, you will back home reviewing what has been the best weekend of 2026 so far, and wondering when you can do it again!
A Buffet car service of drinks, snacks and light refreshments will be available, along with the now customary real ale bar.
