When codpiece Sir John Falstaff arrives in West Yorkshire short on money, he plots to fix his problems by wooing two wealthy, respectable, married women – Mistress Ford and Mistress Page – by sending each of them an identical love letter. But the witty wives quickly spot his scheme and decide to teach him a memorable lesson. With disguises, misunderstandings and a final moonlit showdown deep in a forest, the story races toward a heartening conclusion.
