This course runs for five sessions on a Friday -
All sessions run 09:30-12:00
The Preparation for Birth and Beyond courses are only for women who live in Sheffield as the information is tailored to our local information/events/services. Please accept our apologies for any dissappointment this may cause.
Whether it’s your first baby or not you might be asking yourself about preparing for birth, feeding and caring for your baby! Lots of questions but not many people to discuss and share with!
Do you want to meet other women in the area who are expecting their babies more or less at the same time as you? Meet qualified staff that can give you the most up to date information on birth, feeding and caring for your baby? If the answer is yes to the above book onto one of our sessions. The sessions are based in different locations across the city where other activities are available to expecting mothers and families! You can find out about that too! And it’s all free! Working in partnership- Best Start workers, Midwives, Health Visitors and Infant feeding peer supporters - the five session courses will give you more information, advice and support than the 1 or 2 session courses.
Antenatal classes help you prepare for the birth of your baby and learn how to care for your baby.
All our courses include topics such as: Going into labour, how women can help themselves in labour and how birth supporters can help, how to respond to your babies needs for comfort and food, breastfeeding, practical care of babies, safety concerns, your support network, and how life might change for you as a parent.
We recommend attending a session when you are about 28 weeks pregnant. Please don’t book onto a session which runs too early in your pregnancy (before 28 weeks) as you will not get the maximum benefit out of the session.
There is only capacity for each woman to book onto one course – please do not book onto multiple courses.
We run a number of classes throughout the city in a variety of locations and times, some are one day classes, some are two/three shorter sessions and some are 5 sessions. Please choose the location and time that suits you best but please only book onto ONE course. The same information will be covered in every class however the courses that are five sessions cover the information in more depth with specialist input from midwives, best start workers, health visitors and infant feeding support workers.
