Send us your tunes by 11th Junewe’d like to encourage more rhythm section players, so we’d like to leave a little more time to get familiar with the wonderful set lists we’ve had in the first three sessions. 

New York Style Jazz Jam, fills a gap for more experienced jazz musicians wanting to extend their improvising over multiple choruses and for a live jazz audience. New York jazz jams are  interactive performance events with musicians stretching, exploring common jazz language/rhythm. Following this format, Next Steps Jazz Jams are curated, with prearranged set lists based on tunes chosen by participants. Keys are agreed in advance, and set lists organised for speedy changeovers to create as much  spontaneously interactive playing time as possible. A meeting place for jazz musicians at every stage of their journey into jazz, and an opportunity to  hear jazz standards and contemporary jazz. 

Audience: no need to book, please support your local jazz community. 
Musicians: Message us to book your place on the set list : @NextStepsJazzQuartet. 

Frontline instrumentalists and singers: please book  1-2 tunes individually or in pairs as soon as possible &  by 11th June, and let us know key and form, which Real Book, as appropriate. 

Rhythm Section Players: To take the lead, please book by 11th June as above. Please check the set lists and music from 13th June. Let us know the  tunes you’d like to play  & solo on in preference order 1-3. Please make sure you know the form and feel, - as Christian McBride says ‘you’ve got one job’ and that is to support the soloist & we are inviting people to stretch out, after all.
