The Exiles are happy to announce that Christopher Halpin-Durband of the York School of Defence will be teaching our next workshop. Over the course of which we will look at the use of the Messer according to Johannes Lecküchner, as well as Christopher's own experimental work with Sword and Shield, based on his interpretation of Medieval illuminated manuscripts.
All levels of ability and experience are welcome to attend.
REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED
10:00 - 11:30 Messer fundamentals
11:30 - 1:00 Advanced Messer
1:00 - 2:00 Lunch
2:00 - 4:00 Sword and Shield
Kit list is as follows:
Fencing mask and light gloves are required. A cup/box/groin protector is recommended.
A steel messer, steel longsword you can use in one hand, or steel arming sword with a longer grip would be ideal. At a pinch a standard steel arming sword will suffice. We will bring some nylon and wood simulators on the day.
If you have your own "heater" style shield please feel free to bring it for use on the day. But we will be exploring the use of the guige strap, so if your shield doesn't come with one, you may have to switch to one of our waster shields that we'll provide on the day.
Lunch will be 1 hour and you can either bring your own or there are shops nearby. Also, please remember to bring a water bottle.
Free car parking is available at the rear of the venue.
