Mathew Weir recently gifted two drawings to Sheffield’s visual art collection, which are currently on display in the latest exhibition New Horizons. Cain and Abel (after Albrecht Durer) and St Mattias are intricate drawings, informed by historic works of art, created using the artist’s own blood.
Suzanne will use these works and others to explore how blood conveys ideas surrounding mortality, identity, violence and health.
Rev Suzanne Nockels is a hospital chaplain and minister in the city.
This talk forms part of the programme of events complementing the exhibition New Horizons: Growing Sheffield’s Art Collection, which continues at the Millennium Gallery until Sunday 25 January.
