Jacqueline Rose writes, “Motherhood is the place in our culture where we lodge, or rather bury, the reality of our own conflicts, of what it means to be fully human…Mothers cannot help but be in touch with the most difficult aspects of any fully lived life. Along with the passion and pleasure, it is the secret knowledge that they share.”This workshop will provide a space to explore our experiences of mothering through writing in any genre. We will mine the rich and abundant material that comes from the experience of mothering or being mothered, and I hope that the act of describing our experiences empowers us as writers and as mothers.Open to anyone who is a mother (self-defined) or wants to write about mothers. Open to both novices and seasoned writers.About your facilitator:Raquel Vogl is an American writer, musician, and teacher. She has taught English and writing for years in a variety of settings. She has had work published in Storgy, The Sheffield Review, and the Donna Collective among other places. In her musical life, she has released multiple records and toured the United States, and she continues to investigate the writing spectrum from song to the written word with her band Persona, recently releasing a record on the label Sonido Polifonico.Please Note:18+ onlyThe Writers Workshop's space has no step-free access.
