Interesting to note that above the north-east door there is an unusual carving of the ‘Green Man’, an ancient symbol of fertility and evidence that the original builders were in some way supporting both ancient religions and Christianity.About sound bath immersionThis time are joined by Rosie & Pedro with their project POND. Rooted in the rhythms of nature, their sound is informed by more than human life, using a range of techniques (bio data synths, hydrophones, contact mics, and more) to tune into the natural world. As part of their contribution they will also be using tape loops and improvisation to transport the audience into imagined commons and wild spaces. Alongside them will be our usual mix of gongs, bowls, flute and monochord drone.Expect 1hour of continuos sound travelling through the natural world, dark tones of gongs and electronics, and the gentler touch of our usual sessions.Event Schedule21-02-265pm-5.30pm – Arrival + optional site tour (approx. 30 mins)5.30pm - 6pm - tea and informal talk with artists6pm- 7pm – Live soundAbout Sound EmergenceSound Emergence is a contemplative sound practice led by André Braga-Verissimo and Sasha Maye Bruce. Their work brings together sound, heritage and community to create immersive listening experiences across Kent and beyond. They explore sound as a form of contemplation, deep listening, and collective gathering, working across art, music and history.Guest ArtistsRosie Carr is an artist, gardener and PhD researcher. She has worked on solo and collaborative sound projects for artists film, release and exhibition, as well as developing community sound workshops based in gardens, using plant material as tools, teachers and instruments. Her PhD research investigates our common connection to the land, through community practices with sound and moving image, and questions whether community gardening can be an embryonic form of ‘recomonning’.Pedro Figueiredo is a sound artist and software developer. He has long been interested in small sounds, which he finds are a great antidote to the modern demand for all the attention all the time. From January Pedro will start a PhD examining how sound can be used to foster civic participation and community development, focused on Minster Marshes and surrounding areas.What to BringThis event is primarily seated, though some there is some space to lie down if you wish to. Please bring:A mat, blanket and/or pillow (if you intend to lie down come early as limited floor space )A small cushion for your comfort (to seat down)Warm clothing (venues can be cool)Hot and cold drinks will be available.Tickets & Sliding ScalePlease contribute according to your financial circumstances.
