Head for the hills and learn some packing skills, enjoy group rides along the lakeside trails, groovy afternoons on the water, and potluck evenings by the campfire. 
Want s’more riding, s’more packing, s’more…s’mores? This is the place!
 
Bring your saddle horse and your pack mule/donkey/horse/pony (what’s your pack animal of choice?)
 
Arrive Aug. 2 - settle in camp, late afternoon short ride to the lake to check out the lay of the land
late afternoon - intro to Dutch Oven cooking (peach cobbler)
potluck dinner (gotta eat that cobbler!)
Aug. 3 - morning pack clinic - basic gear/loading/box hitch; trail etiquette
aftrenoon ride - short loop with bags; afternoon swim
Aug. 4 - morning pack clinic - highlines and picketing and electric fences
afternoon ride - historic boy scout property - long ride
Aug. 5 - morning pack clinic - load and hitch recap
afternoon ride - fish camp and beyond (on-trail beach picnic/swim)
Aug. 6 - morning ride, then head for home
 
Gather at Main Camp for dinner nightly at 7 p.m.  Stick around for campfire, music (bring instruments and join in the jam!), good company.
 
$10/night/member includes camping space in the official BCHC Shaver Lake Horse Camp, clinics, rides, and campfire.
- We are limited in parking space here to three rigs. Trailer-pooling applicants will get preference at Shaver Horse Camp
- The camp has two available pens which can be shared by equines that get along. Consider sharing a rig ride and pen with your riding/camping/household buddy. There is also room for your own portable pens.
- Bring your own water (for horses and people)
- Bring your own power source for hot-wire pens.
 
Didn’t get into the group camp site? You can still join us! Use nearby dispersed, first-come-first-serve, self-sufficient camping on Sierra National Forest land, and join us for the programs/rides/campfire
