It is significant because it marks the beginning of a new solar cycle or the return of the sun and the final moments of peaceful solitude we might have before the busier season of Spring arrives.

With the heating now off, please be aware that it will be cold water swimming conditions. Please take note of the advice and medical exclusions on the links when booking. You will need to complete a medical questionnaire (hard copies available at the pool). 

It will be chilly when you get out in the dark so please make sure you bring warm clothes, hot drinks and snacks for socialising after (no alcohol or glass, please).

Shaftesbury Lido is a 25-yard open-air pool managed by Shaftesbury Town Council and staffed by a dedicated team of fully qualified lifeguards. During the summer months, the pool is heated to 29 degrees, providing a warm and welcoming environment for swimmers of all ages.
