December's full moon is the Cold Moon, and the last supermoon of 2025.
In December, when winter sets in the northern hemisphere, the full moon is called the Cold Moon. It is also called Long Nights Moon, and the Moon before Yule. It is a glowing beacon in the long, dark nights, nudging us to step outside and breathe in the crisp, wintry air. It’s brilliance reflects the stillness of the land, reminding us of the quiet beauty and the stark contrasts of the season.

With the heating now off, please be aware that it will be cold water swimming conditions. Please take note of the advice and medical exclusions on the links when booking. You will need to complete a medical questionnaire (hard copies available at the pool).
It will be chilly when you get out in the dark so please make sure you bring warm clothes, hot drinks and snacks for socialising after (no alcohol or glass, please).

Shaftesbury Lido is a 25-yard open-air pool managed by Shaftesbury Town Council and staffed by a dedicated team of fully qualified lifeguards. During the summer months, the pool is heated to 29 degrees, providing a warm and welcoming environment for swimmers of all ages.
