Christmas Bird Counts are done nationwide during the holiday season and data collected over time, gives interesting insights in how species distributions have changed. The refuge count will start promptly at 7:30 am, at the Visitor Center courtyard, where groups will form to cover specific areas of the refuge.  Birders can stay all day or just a couple of hours, and a hot soup lunch, for participants, will be available, at 11:00 am, courtesy of the Muscatatuck Wildlife Society.
