- **Event Description**: In honor of Memorial Day, flag placement at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery will take place on Saturday, May 23, 2026. Volunteers should meet at the main Flagpole at 9:00 a.m. for a brief ceremony and then will disburse around the cemetery to place flags. Flags will be provided. Cemetery staff will be on hand to direct traffic and assist with parking on the roads throughout the cemetery. Volunteers are asked to carpool if possible. Attendees should dress for the weather and be prepared to do a lot of walking. 

Volunteers are also needed on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 for flag removal which will begin around 8:00 a.m. Volunteers should meet at the main Flagpole for brief instructions. 

As approximately 35,000 flags will be placed/picked up, the support and participation of volunteers is greatly appreciated. 

Registration is not required to participate in either flag placement or removal.
