# Event Details

- **Event Name**: North West Kent Family History Society (NWKFHS). Otford Shops 1960-2000 with Ed Thompson
- **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 14 Feb, 2026 at 10:45 am
- **Event Description**: Relive the time when Otford had shops providing everything the village could need!

Ed was brought up in Otford and from an early age developed an interest in railways. He began to collect railway memorabilia as much of the railway was being modernised in the 1960s and built up a unique collection of photos of the station. Then Ed started amassing pictures of Otford Village and subsequently of Sevenoaks and the surrounding villages, eventually widening out to cover West Kent and East Sussex. This talk is a trip down memory lane to a time when Otford's shops meant you didn't have to go to the supermarket!

Doors for the meeting open 10.45am, and the meeting starts 11am. No booking, just turn up. Refreshments available.

There is a large public car park (payment required, 50p for 2 hours, £1 for 3 hours) adjacent to the hall but it can be busy!

The Society is a registered charity and membership fees and donations are an important part of our income. The Talk is free to members but guests and visitors are asked to make a donation towards hall hire and speaker's fee. There will be a donations box at the venue.
