Franklin County’s original Mouse Derby is back in Sesser — get ready for real mice and big fun!
On Saturday, May 2nd, the Sesser Opera House Board of Directors will be hosting its 7th Annual Sesser Mouse Derby Fundraiser at the Gualdoni Event Center — the event that first brought mouse derby racing to Franklin County. Keeping with tradition, the theme for the night is "Kentucky Derby Attire" so show up sporting your best derby hats, blazers, etc. This year, our fundraiser once again coincides perfectly with the actual Kentucky Derby!
At this fundraiser, our guests will make use of "Mouse Money", a special currency used to place bets on races, try your hand at Plinko, and bet at the Mouse Roulette table.
Mouse Money will be available at our cashier's table for the price of $2 per Mouse Money. A minimum purchase of $10 (5 Mouse Money) per adult will be required at the door. NOTE: Mouse Money purchases are cash only.
There will be a total of 7 mouse races beginning at 7PM and taking place every 20 minutes, each with a 1-to-1 payout structure. For example, for every one Mouse Money you bet, you'll receive two back when you cash in your winning betting slip after the race.
Guests will also have the opportunity to name one or more of the 6 mice before each of the first 6 races. If a named mouse wins, it will compete in the seventh and final race. If it wins the final race, the guest who named it will win up to a $50 cash prize.
