Ice Age glacial landforms on the Olympic Peninsula and Western Washington

Dann May, professor at Peninsula College, will explore how alpine glaciers and the last continental ice sheet shaped the Olympic Peninsula. You will examine various glacial landforms including cirques, aretes, u-shaped valleys, moraines, eskers, drumlins and glacial erratics that shaped the Olympic Peninsula and formed during the last Ice Age beginning 2.58 million years ago.

Dann teaches courses in geology, anthropology and philosophy at Peninsula College. He also teaches courses in geology and anthropology for the Community Education program at Peninsula College. Dann has also given numerous public presentations on the Cascadia Subduction Zone and the future Megathrust Earthquake that will hit our area.

Dann received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in geology from the University of Washington in Seattle (1978 & 1980) and his M.A. in anthropology and philosophy from the University of North Texas (1993). Before pursuing his teaching career, he worked as an exploration geologist with the Standard Oil Company in Dallas, Texas. Dann currently serves on the Clallam County Marine Resources Committee.
