This is the Over Water Survival Course that consists of classroom-based instruction, including practical tests that are required of all aircrew members who are, or plan to be, participating in an extended overwater flight or sortie.  This course will be taught by an instructor(s) who has been appointed and approved by the wing commander or designee.  The on-line course must be taken and passed within thirty (30) days of the classroom session.  Additionally, once the classroom portion is completed, the Aircraft Egress and In-Water practicals must also be taken and passed.  To remain current, members must re-accomplish the course every three (3) years.

Core Training Prerequisites: Current CAP Membership and GES Qualified to include completion of CAP Test 116,  FEMA ICS courses IS100 and IS 700, Cadet Protection Training and participants must have unrestricted status to participate in the water-based practical portion of the training.

First time participants must initiate a WS SQTR and have commanders' approval prior to attending this class.

All participants should review the OWS Training Guide and associated material in eServices and must complete the written test in (ABSORB). 

Participants WILL enter the water with their CAP uniform and boots on; change of clothing is recommended.  

Participants without a DOD ID card must inform the event sponsor no later than 20 May 26 to be included on the access roster for entry onto the installation.
