The Selkirk Local Energy Club, by Selkirk Regeneration, will be sharing information on funded community rooftop solar, for Selkirk from 2 to 3pm.
“It’s an initiative that will benefit Selkirk directly, using renewable electricity generated in the town, from solar panels installed on the roofs of local businesses and community buildings. Selkirk Regeneration would like to help Selkirk residents and businesses use locally generated electricity first, rather than importing it from the national grid.
The Club is in its feasibility phase and we’re looking for homeowners who are interested in the idea and willing to share details on their energy use and existing solar panels. The information on your energy use and needs will help design a fair, practical model for Selkirk, we’re researching how it could work in practice – technically, financially and legally. “Taking part now doesn’t mean signing up to buy or sell electricity — it simply helps shape how a local, community-based energy system could work in the future."
David Bethune, Trustee, Selkirk Regeneration SCIO.
Visitors will have access to a range of specialists to find out more on low-carbon heating technologies and solar PV to make homes more energy-efficient.
Business Energy Scotland will be attending and available to discuss what businesses and community organisations can do to reduce their energy bills and improve the energy efficiency of their buildings.
Local community support organisations will be hosting stalls, providing advice.
Our project is kindly supported by The National Lottery Community Fund Scotland and SGN.
