Join us for kids' corner, exhibitors, speakers, nature walks and tram tours. This event is a great opportunity to learn about and connect with nature.Park Services Specialist Carla Sherwin stated, “Visitors can learn about the many resources these organizations and agencies provide and obtain information on a diversity of topics from soils and butterfly gardening to home water conservation and prescribed fire.”Sherwin continued, “The speaker programs are exceptional! They examine historic milestones in preservation and conservation and address current challenges to environmental protection.”Reflecting on Highlands Hammock as a forerunner of early grassroots support for environmental preservation, Sherwin remarked, “Our communities may look back and celebrate the historic role they played in the acquisition of the park. As the Hammock is now over 90 years old, it may be taken for granted, but the opportunities for recreation, stewardship and sharing nature with children are unique.” Sherwin, who is hoping for a strong turnout including new residents and those who have never visited the park concluded, “The festival is an event where all visitors are welcome and can truly connect to nature, the park and the community.”Highlands Hammock State Park: 5931 Hammock Rd, Sebring, FL 33872The event, except for tram rides and food, is free with park admission.
