Contact the artist dahyunkim.art@gmail.comAbout the exhibit:In the RAD Artist-in-Residence exhibition, Watda gatda, a Seattle-based multimedia artist Dahyun Kim utilizes internet-sourced images to explore the political and cultural boundaries that he experienced as a 1.5-generation immigrant. While sourcing from the data that provides limited access to these areas, Kim creates physical and digital collage -- using video, sculpture, and painting -- as a method to merge together the separated spaces, disrupting the constructed idea of borders in our society.Watda gatda means “moving back and forth” in Korean.About the artist:Dahyun Kim is a Seattle-based artist, whose works span across video, sculpture, and installation. His works has shown in group exhibitions at Base Camp Studio, Slip Gallery, Artists of Color Expo & Symposium, Specialist Gallery, and Sea-Tac International Airport. Kim was awarded twice the iET+I residency funding at Cornish College of the Arts at Seattle University and is currently Artist in Residence at Base Camp Studio in Seattle, WA.
