The 29th Annual Lunar New Year Celebration in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District returns on Saturday, March 7, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., bringing the neighborhood together for a free, all-ages street festival produced by CIDBIA and presented by McDonald’s.
Since 1998, this beloved celebration has grown into one of the largest Lunar New Year events in the region, honoring the diversity, richness, and cultural heritage of the Asian American community. This year’s festivities feature dragon and lion dances, martial arts demonstrations, and dynamic cultural performances throughout the day.
Food lovers won’t want to miss the Food Walk, where local businesses serve up delicious bites. Explore the dozens of arts and crafts vendors and local artisans to find one of a kind goods.
Lunar New Year marks the beginning of the year on the traditional lunar calendar, celebrated across many Asian cultures with unique customs and traditions. Communities come together with music, dance, and foods symbolizing luck, prosperity, and fresh beginnings.
