She currently serves as Associate Professor at Metropolitan State University of Denver and has recently been appointed Artistic Director of the Centrum Jazz Workshop.Joining forces with Clement is guitarist Steve Kovalcheck, renowned for his expressive tone, harmonic sophistication, and inventive improvisation. After working professionally in Nashville and New York, Kovalcheck has called Colorado home since 2007. He has performed and recorded with the trio Akiko/Hamilton/Kovalcheck, featuring the late Akiko Tsuruga on Hammond B3 organ and legendary drummer Jeff Hamilton. He also performs with the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra. His latest trio release, Buck Shot Blues, is out now on Origin Records.
