About the event

A Martyr
Looking back at the Civil War and looking ahead in fear at WWII, Florence Price’s seldom-heard masterwork Abraham Lincoln Walks at Midnight sets Vachel Lindsay’s poem of the same name. Additional works by Stephen Chatman and Dan Locklair are complemented by memorial music from 1865, songs composed immediately upon Lincoln’s death.
