The First Aid for Divers course will teach you to recognise the need for, and provide, basic first aid treatment either in your daily life or in a diving environment.
First aid skills deteriorate rapidly if not used or practiced regularly so it is recommended that you undertake a refresher course at least every three years.
In a mixture of theory and practical sessions, you will learn the principles and priorities of first aid, including how to summon help, and casualty examination, along with the treatments for shock, bleeding and burns. Injuries to muscles, bones and joints, and other diving-related conditions are also covered.
There is lots of practice to be had under the guidance of experienced instructors, and, alongside traditional first aid kits, the course includes making use of the resources likely to be available on a dive site.
First Aid For Divers is open to anyone, however experience on dive trips, knowledge of diving procedures and diving-related physiology to at least Ocean Diver level would be an advantage.
Location and timings will be shared with attendees ahead of the course.
