✨ The Holding Room: Open House — Free Introductory Class ✨
The Holding Room is a new theatre lab offered through Theatre On Main, created for actors seeking serious, process-driven work at a humane pace.
This free open house session is an invitation to experience the tone, structure, and approach of the lab before committing to the full five-week series.
The work is influenced by Robert Wilson’s approach to theatre, where time, space, and stillness are treated as active elements, allowing meaning to emerge without forcing interpretation.
During the session, we’ll explore:
• Presence and listening in scene work
• Time and space as physical elements
• Stillness, attention, and precision
• Working without urgency or performance pressure
This is not a performance or audition.
It’s a low-pressure introduction to the way The Holding Room functions—focused, grounded, and intentional.
Details:
• One-time, in-person session
• Open to actors and theatre artists
• No preparation required
• Space may be limited

FAQ
Do I need experience with this style of work?
No. Curiosity and willingness to slow down are more important than prior experience.
Is this movement-heavy or physically demanding?
No. The work is attentive and precise rather than strenuous, with respect for individual bodies and capacity.
Is this experimental or traditional scene study?
It sits between the two—working with text while paying close attention to time, space, and physical presence.
Is this therapy?
No. While the work can be meaningful, The Holding Room is a theatre lab focused on craft and process.
Does attending obligate me to enroll?
No. The open house is simply an opportunity to experience the work and see if the full lab feels like the right fit.
