Start your new year with a fun stroll for all ages and abilities at Brookdale Preserve and Genesee Valley Greenway State Park. Enjoy the trail while learning fun facts about critters local to the area.
Genesee Land Trust will provide hot cocoa and light snacks. If you can, please bring your own mug for the cocoa.
Please bring nonperishable food items for our food drive if you are able to.
We will gather near the parking lot of Brookdale Preserve before following a path to the trail. We’ll cross Brook Road to head south along the Genesee Valley Greenway Trail toward Morgan Road. Your outdoor adventure can be up to 4 miles, 2 miles to the turn around point, then 2 miles back. Move at your own pace and feel free to turn around at any point before the designated turn around point. Advance registration is appreciated for planning, but it is not required.
Dress warmly and wear boots! Depending on snowfall, you might want to bring snowshoes if you have them.

Trail Description: The trail features a hard, stone dust surface. There will be no road crossings after the initial crossing to enter the trail. No part of the trail is plowed and there are no benches along the trail.
The parking lot is dirt and there’s a grassy/snowy incline up to the road-level trail entrance. There is a short, narrow path from the parking lot to the trailhead that includes a 2-degree slope for 10 feet, followed by a steeper slope of 8–11 degrees over 6 feet. The video below demonstrates the route from the trail back to the parking lot. An optional accessible drop-off point will be available on both sides of the road at the trail entrance for those unable to navigate the trail connecting the parking lot to the trailhead. Please let us know if getting out at the trail level would be easier. No cars may be parked here.

Parking: A parking lot is available at the preserve (66 Brook Road) and when the lot is filled, attendees will need to park along Brook Road.
Restrooms: An ADA porta potty will be available in the parking lot.
Pets: Dogs, other pets, emotional support, comfort, and companion animals are not allowed at Genesee Land Trust events. Although your pet may be friendly, everyone has different familiarity and experiences with animals. Thank you for being respectful to other attendees.
Service Animals: Service animals, which are dogs or miniature horses that are specifically trained to perform tasks for people with disabilities, are welcome. Service animals must always be under the control of the handler, housebroken, cleaned up after, and vaccinated in accordance with state laws.
