On Saturday, Nov 22, from 6:00 - 9:00 pm, First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church of Scituate proudly debuts our first Blue Boat Presents concert, featuring award-winning local artist Sarah Blacker & The Light. Local favorite Birch Swart is the supporting act. Since 2016, The Blue Boat Coffeehouse has showcased the incredible talent of local youth and adults in a safe and sober all-ages venue while raising funds for local non-profit organizations. Proceeds from this month’s coffeehouse will support the Scituate Food Pantry.
Since 2016, The Blue Boat Coffeehouse has showcased the incredible talent of local youth and adults in a safe and sober all-ages venue. The traditional coffeehouses continue and will alternate with this new concert format. Proceeds from all Blue Boat performances raise funds for a local non-profit organization.
Birch Swart was a mainstay of the Blue Boat Coffeehouses since his student years, so it is only fitting for him to open the first Blue Boat Presents concert. Birch's music career as a singer-songwriter now takes him performing nationwide as well as at major local venues like the Levitate Festival, with his reggae band, a pop/rock jam band, and solo acoustic shows.
Sarah Blacker, named ‘Performer of the Year’ in the 2024 New England Music Awards, has been called “her own artist” by the Huffington Post with music coined as “soaring folk gospel” by the Patriot Ledger. She is a singer/songwriter, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist who has toured solo nationally and internationally. Her band 'The Light' features Aaron Z. Katz of Percy Hill on drums/percussion and harmonies, and Phil Selesnick on keys/bass and vocals; their newest studio EP is ‘Horizon Line.’ Her music ranges from rock to soulful pop, never without some jazzy improvisation— and with harmonic twists that inspire comparisons to Joni Mitchell.
Suggested donation is $20. Baked goods, coffee, tea, and water will be available for purchase. All proceeds from the door and sale of refreshments —as well as any donated items like canned food and toiletries — will be donated to the Scituate Food Pantry.
