Wednesdays at the Walk In: Linocut Workshop with Ray Dorian!!
Message from the Artist:
Linocut is one of those art forms that feels both ancient and fresh. I love the tactile rhythm of carving, the quiet focus it brings, and the satisfying sound of ink rolling onto the block. It’s simple, meditative, and deeply rewarding— especially when you see your design mirrored back to you in bold black and white. What I enjoy most is showing people that you don’t need to be “an artist” to make something beautiful. All you need is curiosity and a willingness to experiment. Every print tells its own story, imperfections and all — that’s part of the charm. If you’ve ever been curious about printmaking, come join me for a class. You’ll learn the basics, make something by hand, and walk away with inky fingers and a big smile. Let’s carve, print, and create something uniquely yours — one image at a time.
Ray Dorian was born and raised in the Philadelphia area and has called Schuylkill County home since 1988. He earned his degree in Fine Arts from Temple University, where he studied drawing, painting, and printmaking, before continuing on to graduate from Temple University Beasley School of Law. He worked as a lawyer for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania while raising two daughters with his late wife.
Now retired, Ray devotes more time to his lifelong love of art, with a focus on representational work and portraiture. He draws inspiration from the bold and imaginative visions of Salvador Dalí, Max Ernst, and George Grosz, striving to create a connection between viewer and subject through the subtleties of the human form.
