- **Event Description**: The WI Outstanding Young Farmer Awards Program is the oldest and premier recognition program for farmers in the US. The purpose is to bring a greater interest in the farmer, by fostering better urban-rural relations through the understanding of their endeavors, to develop a further appreciation for their contributions and achievements and to inform the agribusiness community of the growing urban awareness of farmers' importance and impact on America's economy. 

The nominees of the WI OYF Award Congress must be young agriculturists from Wisconsin that are between the ages of 21 and 40. Nominees must be actual farm operators, deriving a minimum of two-thirds of their income from farming. Judging criteria is based upon personal contribution in the following categories: progress in agriculture career; soil and water conservation practices; and contributions to the well being of their community, state and nation.
