As part of our standard structural monitoring, we completed a detailed examination of Bridge 42 in May 2025. Following an interim inspection carried out this week, we have taken the sensible decision to bring forward essential maintenance by three months. Work will commence in the New Year.

As we round off our Railway 200 celebrations, we're delighted to welcome back the beautifully restored, diesel-powered North Eastern Railway Electric Autocar No. 3170, thanks to the NER 1903 Electric Autocar Trust.

If you're looking for something to do with the family this Twixmas, why not blow away the cobwebs with a heritage train ride between Pickering and Goathland stations? So, step aboard this remarkable piece of history and enjoy a cosy journey through the North York Moors National Park this festive season.

Services run between Pickering, Levisham, Newtondale Halt (by request) and Goathland stations. You can begin your journey at any of these stations, but please make sure you’re able to return to your starting point within the timetable. Unfortunately, due to the layout of the train, these services are not accessible for wheelchair users. If you wish to travel on the Autocar, you’ll need to be able to board and step up to the seating area without assistance.
