What to Expect:
📅 FRIDAY - ARRIVE, SURVIVE & SETTLE IN
Rock up to Oliver’s Mount whenever life allows, early, late, dramatically, or somewhere in between, there’s no rush…
Well, except beating the sunset, because putting up a tent in the dark is the kind of character building exercise nobody asked for.
Once you’ve mastered the art of temporary housing, ease into a laid-back evening of settling in, chatting rubbish, meeting your neighbours, and soaking up that early-weekend anticipation.
As the last bit of daylight disappears behind the trees we might head out for a little cruise along Scarboroughs seafront, just a fleet of gleaming machines gliding through the night like a budget Fast & Furious.
Then it’s back to camp for sleep… or at least an attempt at it, depending on how loudly your campmate snores.
📅 SATURDAY - CONVOY, CHAOS & CHARCOAL
Rise and shine, campers! Or rise and grimace depending on how your back feels after sleeping with nature and grab a spot of breakfast.
Then we start our engines & roll out in convoy for a day on the open road, cruising through scenic stretches along the Yorkshire Coast and North Yorkshire Moors, stopping for views and photos (where possible), waving at confused locals and enjoying that unbeatable feeling of being part of something good. It’s relaxed, it’s fun and it’s exactly what weekends should feel like.
After a day of driving, laughing, and “accidentally” revving at least once and no doubt one of us taking a wrong turn, we glide back into camp ready for the evenings social event - the BBQ.
Coals get lit, food hits the grill, chairs come out, the smell of charred sausages fills the air & drinks appear from everywhere. Stories from the cruise grow more dramatic with every retelling. The whole camp falls into that warm, golden hour chaos where everything feels right with the world.
As night settles, you look around at the tents, the cars, the people, the firelight, the smiles… and it just feels good.
📅 SUNDAY - THE GREAT (AND SLIGHTLY SAD) ESCAPE
Morning arrives and people appear from tents with hair that defies the laws of physics and someone’s misplaced a shoe.
Slow packing, final chats, one more lap around the grounds to say goodbye to the machines and the mates who made the weekend unforgettable.
Then engines start up one by one, waves, beeps, thumbs ups…
And you take the long road home with a grin you can’t quite wipe off.
THE BOTTOM LINE
This isn’t just a camping trip, it isn’t just a convoy & it isn’t just a meet.
This is Drive It Day & Camp Out.
A full weekend of cars, cruising, chaos, camaraderie, and camping done the Highway 63 way.
So the real question is…
