The development of a huge number of new Wind Farms off the North Yorkshire Coast has never been so intensive and this brings with it huge opportunities for towns and businesses up and down the coast. There are opportunities for the Ports, local businesses, employment and skills as well as hospitality and retail.

The Scarborough Business Ambassadors in partnership with the Humber Marine and Renewable's team, are hosting this breakfast, which has been kindly sponsored by Dale Power Solutions, to highlight the potential opportunities to local businesses and hear back from you what you might need to make this happen. We will have representatives from the industry as well as from North Yorkshire Council and from Scarborough Port. All of this wrapped in a fabulous breakfast to get you started for the day.

The meeting will be opened by Richard Flinton, Chief Executive of North Yorkshire Council, who will set out the desire of the council to maximise on the potential for economic growth in this area.

We will also have a speaker from the Humber Marine and Renewable's sector and there will be an open session for discussion around this topic.

Scarborough is poised to take advantage of a major opportunity in service and supply to these developments and then for many years afterwards during their operation. We just need to make sure the ports at Scarborough and Whitby are in good shape and that local businesses are aware of the potential in this sector.

Holding this meeting during Scarborough Science and Engineering Week also brings to the fore the need to develop a skilled workforce in this sector to meet the demand that will be generated by the development of the facilities as well as ongoing maintenance and support.
