- **Event Description**: Pastors, MIDs, and chaplains - you’re invited to recharge in nature with peers engaging in worship, spiritual practices, fellowship, and learning at the 2026 Michigan Conference UCC Clergy Retreat on the beautiful grounds of Tower Hill Camp and Retreat Center in Sawyer, MI.

This year’s theme is "Rage, Renewal, and Being Real" and the focus scripture is Ephesians 4: 11-13: He himself granted that some are apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ.

Workshops include:

Personal Stories in Writing and Preaching “Defrocked: Good News from a Bad Pastor for a Better Church” - reading and Q&A with Lillian Daniel
Righteous Anger and Space for Lament with Roslyn Bouier and Lawrence Richardson
Bread for the Journey: Spiritual Practices for Radical Joy with Cheryl Burke and Matthew Hogue-Smith 


Spiritual Practices and Worship leadership provided by Kim Newport and Julia DiFiore along with Michigan Conference staff clergy.

The retreat schedule includes worship, fellowship, yoga, time at the beach, Spiritual Practices, exploring the camp grounds, a chance to connect with Conference ministers one on one for pastoral conversations, and group meals shared together in the dining hall. All activities are optional.

Step away from the daily grind to recharge your spirit, be "real", and connect with God and clergy in a peaceful, intentional setting.

Registration includes lodging, meals, and retreat materials. Registration discounts for MIDs (members in discernment), new pastors, and clergy new to Michigan along with support scholarships are available. 

The Michigan Conference UCC is awarded a Brown Grant by United Church Funds to significantly reduce the cost for Michigan clergy to attend the 2026 Clergy Retreat at Tower Hill Camp & Retreat Center May 27-29.
