- **Event Description**: A new film series Sundays at The Center, featuring notable cinematic works that lionize and champion Black history, arts, and culture.About this EventMinnie Evans: Draw or Die, a one-hour documentary film produced and directed by filmmaker Linda Royal, lifts the unique voice of self-taught artist Minnie Evans from conversations between Evans and photographer Nina Howell Starr. Their taped discussions from the late sixties/early seventies reveal a loving friendship and Evans' personal history. During her lifetime, Minnie Evans drew an estimated 3,000 pictures using crayons and other media. Grounded in the compositions and forms she produced, the film's visuals highlight her artwork through the decades as well as archival images, Starr's black and white photography, and the gardens and coastal landscapes that inspired Minnie Evans’ work.This event is free and open to the public.
