She has been licensed with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation since 2000 and holds a U.S. Fish & Wildlife migratory bird permit since 2002. Over her more than two decades of service, Ellen has led Ravensbeard in rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing thousands of native birds and other wildlife. When animals cannot be returned to the wild, she cares for them as educational ambassadors to help foster public awareness of ecology, conservation, and our connections with wildlife.Ellen has also been recognized for her leadership in the field. In 2017, she received the William R. Ginsberg Stewardship Award from the Woodstock Land Conservancy for her work rehabilitating wild birds and her educational outreach efforts.
