Iga võistkond läbib täpselt niipalju kilomeetreid ja punkte, kui meelepärane ja jõukohane. Osalema on oodatud igaüks, kes naudib aktiivset liikumist ning tunneb huvi orienteerumise vastu. Rogain is a team-based score orienteering event, where the goal is to collect as many points as possible within the time limit by visiting checkpoints placed in the terrain. The order of visiting checkpoints is free, meaning each team plans its own route. There is no required number of checkpoints — each team covers exactly as many kilometers and collects as many points as they find suitable and enjoyable.
