- **Event Name**: Linda Duvall, This Place Remembers
- **Event Start and End Date**: Sat, 18 Apr, 2026 at 01:00 pm (-06:00)
- **Event Description**: In 2025, artist Linda Duvall orchestrated a new commemorative public intervention titled This Place Remembers. The project aims to acknowledge the untold histories of trauma and violence that have left an indelible mark on our city.

Duvall invited members of the public to recommend sites that held personal meaning. Working with members of STR8 UP—a Saskatoon organization that offers outreach services, programming, and support to those who have lived or are living criminal street lifestyles—and other collaborators, she marked each location by planting crocuses, the hardy perennials whose blossoms signal the arrival of spring.

On a single day in October, the artist and her collaborators planted more than 6,000 bulbs. On Saturday, April 18 at 1 PM, Remai Modern will celebrate the coming of spring and the blossoming of this subtle and poetic artistic gesture. Join the artist, members of STR8 UP, project participants and museum staff for a day of conversation and reflection.

At the event, Duvall and special guests will share stories about their experience. Coffee and tea will be provided. Following the event, visitors are invited to explore the grounds near the museum to view crocuses and engage with the artist and participants.

Artist Bio - Linda Duvall is a Canadian artist and educator based in Saskatoon. She studied sociology and English at Carleton University and education at Queen’s University. She earned an AOCA diploma from Ontario College of Art and Master of Fine Arts degrees from University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and Transart Institute. Duvall moved with her family from Ontario to Saskatoon in 1992, where she taught at the University of Saskatchewan.

Over the course of a career spanning four decades, Linda Duvall has developed a distinctive art practice. Drawing on her background in sociology and education, as well as her experience living in rural communities, she has created a dynamic practice that situates conversation, collaboration and cultural exchange as both methods and artistic production.

Duvall has exhibited widely in Canada including solo projects at Art Gallery of Hamilton, Art Gallery of Mississauga, Gallery 44, Thunder Bay Art Gallery, Mendel Art Gallery, Dunlop Art Gallery, Art Gallery of Calgary (now Contemporary Calgary), among many other museums, galleries and artist-run centres. She has participated in numerous residencies and presented her work internationally including projects in Guatemala, Slovenia, Spain and the UK.
