Chronic pain affects up to 20% of the adult population. Maintaining an active lifestyle or improving your activity tolerance is not easy or simple when faced with flare ups and pain that persists. Gaining an understanding of how pain works can be an important tool in managing chronic pain and regaining function.
During the talk, Physiotherapist Jennifer Fairbairn will cover:
1. The science of pain and pain care.
2. How the body and the brain respond when there is evidence of danger.
3. The importance of your nervous system to helping your body regain function.
4. An introduction to new ideas and techniques to help you move with more ease.
Presenter: Jennifer Fairbairn is a Physiotherapist who is working on post graduate studies in pain science, and is completing a mentorship program supervised by Neil Pearson PT , Associate professor at UBC and author of Understand Pain Live Well Again, which is part of the Life is Now system. Jennifer has been drawn to understanding pain as a result of her own journey with persistent pain, and is passionate about sharing her knowledge on this important topic.
