Sashiko is a traditional Japanese hand-stitching technique, meaning "little stabs." Originally used for reinforcing and mending worn clothing with simple running stitches, typically white thread on indigo fabric, it has evolved into a beautiful decorative art for quilts, garments, and accessories, often using different colors and patterns.
During this workshop, you’ll create traditional stitched Sashiko patterns on your own handmade linen drawstring bag (5x8 inch). We’ll guide you step-by-step through both the Sashiko stitching and the simple hand-sewing needed to assemble the bag — no prior experience required.
All supplies are provided. Just bring yourself.
Let’s stitch something beautiful together.
