- **Event Name**: Folk Heritage Series : Eric Andersen Acoustic Duo with Steve Addabbo
- **Event Start and End Date**: Fri, 08 May, 2026 at 08:00 pm (-04:00)
- **Event Description**: Eric Andersen is a towering figure in the world of folk music—a songwriter, poet, and performer whose words have stirred hearts and shaped the genre for over five decades. Emerging from the vibrant Greenwich Village scene of the 1960s, Andersen quickly became known for his deeply literate, introspective songs and striking stage presence.

He’s the writer behind iconic tracks like “Thirsty Boots,” “Violets of Dawn,” and “Close the Door Lightly When You Go”—songs that have been recorded by artists including Judy Collins, Linda Ronstadt, The Grateful Dead, and Bob Dylan. Over the years, he’s collaborated with musical giants like Joan Baez, Lou Reed, Townes Van Zandt, and Joni Mitchell, forging a path that bridges folk, rock, and poetic songwriting with elegance and emotional power.

With more than 30 albums to his name, Andersen’s body of work is as rich as it is enduring. He continues to evolve as a performer and storyteller, bringing new depth and insight to every stage he graces. There is a full-length documentary about him called Eric Andersen The Songpoet (released 2019) and available for streaming on PBS.

Eric’s latest studio album, Dance of Love and Death (2025), features 17 new original songs. Released in October 2025, it marks his first album of new studio material since 2003 and features contributions from artists including Steve Addabbo (who is also the album producer), Lenny Kaye, Larry Campbell, and others.

Eric is joined by multi-talented musical polymath Steve Addabbo – singer, songwriter, musician, producer, engineer, and studio ace extraordinaire–on lead guitar for this tour. Steve has worked on many of Eric’s albums including Ghosts Upon the Road (1989), Stages: the Lost Album (1991) , Memory Of the Future (1998), and You Can’t Relive the Past (2000) – the title track co-written and performed by Eric and Lou Reed. Eric on Fender Rhodes, appears on Steve’’s first solo album Out of Nothing.

Join us for an evening with one of the most influential singer-songwriters of our time—a rare chance to witness a living legend up close at Caffè Lena.
