Ropespace is an introductory, non-sexual exploration of Japanese-inspired rope work focused on connection, consent, and somatic awareness. Participants will learn foundational ties while developing skills in communication, pacing, and attentive touch.
This class approaches rope as a relational practice rather than a technical display. Through guided exercises, participants will explore how pressure, rhythm, and stillness influence both physical sensation and emotional experience. Emphasis is placed on clear agreements, ongoing check-ins, and working within personal limits.
Participants will be invited to:
• practice foundational rope handling and simple ties
• develop awareness of breath and body cues
• cultivate clear verbal and nonverbal communication
• explore the meditative flow that can emerge through repetitive, intentional movement
• engage with rope as a collaborative and creative process
This class centers safety, curiosity, and the experience of being fully present in the body. No prior rope experience is required.
Ropespace offers a gentle and structured entry point into rope for those interested in exploring connection, embodiment, and creative expression in a supportive learning environment.

Leah Brown is a Sarasota-based artist, facilitator, and rope practitioner who approaches shibari as a practice of presence, trust, and embodied awareness. With a background in intimate portraiture and emotional space-holding, Leah brings a sensitivity to nonverbal communication, pacing, and the subtle dynamics of connection.
Her work with rope emphasizes collaboration over performance, inviting participants to slow down, listen through touch, and engage with rope as a creative and meditative medium. Leah creates learning environments that prioritize clarity, consent, and nervous system awareness, allowing participants to explore with curiosity and agency. @ThatBodyWitch
