He began his professional training at age 18 at the Conservatory Amadeo Roldan in Havana, Cuba, where he studied classical upright bass. During this time, he performed with various bands at festivals like the Jazz Plaza Festival and served as the first bass for the Young Symphonic Orchestra Amadeo Roldan. After being accepted to the University of Arts in Havana, he moved to Florida and resumed his musical career.
