First of all, the Jewish Hiking Group is a peer engagement group for Jewish adults, 21-45 years old, in San Diego County.

For this hike, we will be joining forces with a great Jewish organization, Moishe House, San Diego!  

The top of Cowles Mountain marks the highest point in the city of San Diego at 1,593 ft, with views from Mexico to Orange County. Cowles Mountain is also one of the most popular hikes in San Diego, so we are going to hike up the less trafficked and more scenic “back way” up the mountain. It’s a beautiful hike and a must-do if you’re in San Diego!  

The Hike:
Difficulty: Difficult/Moderate  (You're going up a steep mt.)
Distance: 4.8 miles
Time: 3 hours

Be sure to bring:
2 LITERS of WATER
Hiking shoes
Hat, Sunglasses, and Sunscreen
Snacks
Jacket (Mountain peaks often have a breeze)

Directions:
From Mission Gorge Road on Santee's west side, turn south on Big Rock Road. Drive to the end of Big Rock Rd where it meets Shantung Drive and park there.
