Join us at our new 1-acre native seed farm and be part of an exciting effort to grow a reliable supply of locally sourced native seed for future habitat restoration.Support Restoration from the Ground UpThe Laguna Foundation's native seed farm is helping address a critical need for locally adapted native seed. What began as seedlings in our nursery is now growing in the field, where native species are being cultivated for seed amplification to support restoration projects on federal lands.Volunteers will spend the morning helping care for the seed farm by hand-pulling weeds around young native plants and collecting native seed as it becomes ready. Both activities are important parts of producing a reliable supply of native seed for future restoration projects.Current seed farm species include coastal tufted hair grass (Deschampsia cespitosa), seaside bird's-foot trefoil (Hosackia gracilis), common madia (Madia elegans), coast goldenrod (Solidago spathulata), and bee plant (Scrophularia californica).No experience is necessary—we provide training, tools, and snacks. Wear sturdy shoes, sun protection, and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. Volunteer activities take place outdoors and involve bending, kneeling, and working in the sun.
